Nutmeg is the seed of Myristica fragrance, an evergreen tree that
grows up to 60 feet tall. Interestingly, the tree produces both Nutmeg
and mace. This is the only tropical fruit that is the source of two
different spices. The mature dried seeds of Myristica fragrance are
exported both Shelled and unshelled.
The sweet but slightly bitter flavor of Nutmeg adds character to vegetables. Several other commercial products are also produced from the tree, including Essential Oils, Extracted Oleoresins, and Nutmeg Butter.
